When to recoat external signs?

Osmo UV-Protection Oil recommend one coat, when signs of wear become visible. Apply lightly with a soft brush for best results. A lint free cloth can be used to remove excess oil. Recoating frequency will vary depending on weather conditions and location.

Oak stakes/posts that are in direct contact with the ground will require more regular maintenance.

When storing signs allow adequate airflow around the entirety. Do not stack or lay flat.

Swings.

We advise when your swing is not in use that you tie it up so not to allow water to settle on the wood finish. This will allow the swing to stay in the best condition. All swings are treated with Osmo UV-Protection Oil. Please follow care instructions above.

When to recoat Osmo Polyx?

Osmo PolyX recommend one coat, when signs of wear become visible. Apply lightly with a soft brush for best results. A lint free cloth can be used to remove excess oil. Water should bead off surface when fully coated.

Cutting Boards.

Do Not wash in dish washer or submerge in water. Clean with damp cloth and soapy water and allow to dry not lying flat. Leave to dry on a wire rack or standing on its side. Carry out regular re oiling with Food-Grade Mineral Oil. Cover the whole board with an even coat but don't over do it. This hydrates the board to prevent splitting and drying out. Leave to dry on its side.

After 4-5 hours the oil has saturated the wood. Wipe over the board with microfibres cloth. Now it’s time for a layer of wax or cream all over the board to keep it hydrated from the oil.

Lastly allow to dry over night on its edge and give it a final buff with a microfibre cloth in a circular motion and then stand back and admire!

If wood fibres are raised after getting board wet a light sanding with 240 grit paper may be required. Sanding in direction of grain while the board is damp and then re applying oil when thoroughly dry.

Serving Boards.

Serving boards are treated with Osmo TopOil. You need to give these boards the same treatmeant as you would a solid wood work top. Clean with damp cloth and soapy water and allow to dry. When signs of wear become visible Osmo recommend one coat of TopOil.
